Ideation

I’m a designer who explores the intersection of typography, culture, and place.

Through projects like my Sunset Blvd Typography Book, I document and celebrate the visual language of neighborhoods, revealing how type reflects local identity and tells compelling, place-based stories.

    • Adobe Illustrator – for vector graphics, icons, and layout precision

    • Adobe InDesign – for typographic layout, grid systems, and print preparation

    • Adobe Photoshop – for image editing and texture creation

  • The layout strategy for this book was driven by the need to balance storytelling with visual clarity. I developed a flexible grid system that provided structure across the spreads while allowing room for variation—mirroring the diversity found along Sunset Blvd. This approach ensured consistency without becoming repetitive, supporting both photographic content and typographic analysis.

White space was used intentionally to give breathing room to the images and type, allowing each element to stand out without overwhelming the viewer. The visual hierarchy was carefully crafted through scale, weight, and placement, guiding the reader’s eye fluidly across the page. In spreads where typography and photography intersected, I designed moments of visual tension—placing type within, around, or emerging from the imagery to emphasize their relationship.

Special attention was given to pacing. Full-bleed photographs alternate with more minimal layouts to create rhythm and allow reflection, while pull quotes and detail shots act as visual anchors throughout the book. The composition was not only about aesthetic balance but also about honoring the visual language of the street—raw, layered, and full of personality.

  • On the streets of Sunset Blvd, it reflects the voices of local businesses, the cultural richness of the neighborhood, and the evolution of style over time. In my work, I use typography as a lens to explore identity, history, and place.

  • In projects like the Sunset Blvd Typography Book, I use photography to document the visual language of neighborhoods — preserving the character of hand-painted signs, vintage lettering, and the street-level stories told through type.

  • This project explores how typography becomes a reflection of community identity, heritage, and creative expression along Sunset Blvd. Each letterform, color, and style tells a story — revealing the cultural layers that define one of Los Angeles' most vibrant and diverse neighborhoods.

  • Design becomes tangible — giving form, texture, and permanence to ideas.
In the Sunset Blvd Typography Book, print design is central to the storytelling. Every detail, from layout and type to paper choice and pacing, was carefully considered to reflect the visual richness of the street. The result is a physical artifact that honors the culture, craft, and layered history of Sunset Blvd.
